Data handling

The datasets you upload and information you input into Spot-On are yours, and won't be shared. We make no use of the uploaded data, but can access them for statistics and debugging purposes.

Furthermore, Spot-On associates a unique URL to each analysis. This URL is publicly accessible and is not password protected. This means that anyone knowing the URL can access the uploaded data. Thus, be sure not to share the URL to untrusted third-party.

Spot-On is currently hosted on Google Cloud, which means that Google has in theory access to the data

Here are a few measures to guarantee your anonymity when using Spot-On:

• The connection between you and Spot-On is encrypted (HTTPS), so that no third party can monitor your use of Spot-On.
• Spot-On does not require you to register, or to upload metadata to your datasets, we thus are totally blind to the type of data you upload: it is impossible for us to guess where the data comes from

Finally, if you are willing to analyze datasets that cannot be uploaded, we invite you to use the offline version of Spot-On (described in the documentation).

Email handling

We do not ask you to provide an email address to use Spot-On, but we require an email address if you want to subscribe to our newsletter (about Spot-On updates) and to contact us. If you choose to disclose your email address, it will only be used for the purpose you opted for and will not be shared outside the team

Website browsing information

We use Piwik to collect anonymous statistics about the use of Spot-On.

Piwik collects anonymous data such as the duration of sessions (time spent on the website), your IP domain, and some browser information (OS, resolution, etc), together with the pags browsed.

You can opt out from this tracking by enabling the Do Not Track feature of your browser (see how to enable it).
